In 2022, the FGSJ team visited the small brickworks which archaeologist Dr Ivor Conolley is setting up in Trelawny.
To help, we obtained detailed advice from Tony Minter of the Bulmer brickworks in the U.K. (Tony came to Jamaica and presented at the Bricks and Mortar Seminar in Spanish Town in 2020.)
It is hoped that these bricks will be used to make up the missing quantity for the brick nogging in the restoration of Tharp House, if production is successful, we hope this will be a useful resource for the repair of other heritage structures on the island.
In March 2023, Peregrine Bryant visted the brickworks and viewed prototype bricks.
