The Jamaican Historical Society will be hosting a lecture by Richard Atkinson on Wednesday the 30th of January, 2019 at 6.00 p.m. at St. Michael’s Theological College on Golding Avenue in Papine.
Mr. Atkinson is a publisher and author. His recently completed book Mr. Atkinson’s Rum Contract tells the story of his eighteenth century ancestor, also Richard Atkinson, who had a contract to supply the British army with rum. His forebear was attorney to Lord Balcares . Come and hear about a family from Westmorland that became one of the richest merchant families in Jamaica.
